Newark Venture Partners (NVP) announced today that it is welcoming Brian Laung Aoaeh and Joseph Scott to its team as Venture Partners with specialties in Supply Chain Technology and Healthtech respectively.
Dan Borok, Managing Partner of NVP said, “We believe that healthcare and supply chain are two of the most significant areas of opportunity in the start-up ecosystem, and we have been investing behind themes in these markets over the past couple of years. Brian and Joe are exactly the right people to help us continue to identify and validate the most promising investments and their years of experience in those markets will be critically helpful to our growing portfolio companies. Newark Venture Partners is proud to have them both on board.”
Brian Laung Aoaeh is the co-founder and general partner of REFASHIOND Ventures and comes to NVP with over 10 years of experience in investment research and management. Brian is the co-founder of The Worldwide Supply Chain Federation, a grassroots network of supply chain, innovation, and technology enthusiasts, and he teaches as an adjunct professor of supply chain and operations management in the Department of Technology Management and Innovation at the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University. Previously, Brian was the first person on the team that built an early-stage venture firm, KEC Ventures, which grew to $98M of assets under management distributed across 2 funds, and 51 investments, with a team of 9 people. He has a degree in mathematics and physics from Connecticut College, holds an MBA with a specialization in financial instruments and markets from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and is a CFA Institute charterholder.
Brian said, “NVP is becoming an important name in early stage supply chain investing. Their location in Newark, and their corporate partners like Prudential and Panasonic give them unique insight into what enterprises are experiencing and access to cutting-edge solutions in the space. I believe in the power of supply chain, innovation, and technology to be catalysts for economic transformation, so I could not be more excited to be joining the team and working with their portfolio companies.” Brian is a regular contributor at Innovation Footprints, FreightWaves, and on Twitter at @brianlaungaoaeh.
Joseph Scott was also added to the team as a Venture Partner, with a specialization in healthtech. Joseph is a long time advisor to NVP, through his previous position as the Executive Vice President of Healthcare Transformation for RWJ Barnabas Health, an NVP corporate partner. His vast healthcare experience includes serving as the President and CEO of 2 hospitals and a healthcare system. He has led mergers, integrations and turnaround of healthcare systems and launched far-reaching community health initiatives. His direct clinical experience as a Pharmacist provides a deep understanding of the clinical aspects of healthcare.
Joseph said, “Throughout my career in healthcare, I’ve worked to forge deep connections between the employee family, the medical staff and the communities we served. As a Venture Partner at NVP, I’m excited to continue that work by supporting investments in health tech solutions that modernize healthcare - and make healthcare easier. There is no better way to promote true wellness, and address the social determinants of health than to collaborate with NVP to identify and promote innovation. These solutions will have a lasting impact on improving the overall health of our communities.
