newark venture partners welcomes top product talent from Palo Alto as new principal

Skylar Dorosin brings Silicon Valley insight to nvp capital; Sean Simons elevated to principal role

newark venture partners (nvp capital), a B2B seed-stage software venture firm, is proud to welcome Skylar Dorosin to the team as Principal. Dorosin will be helping to lead new deals out of nvp III, as well as supporting nvp capital portfolio companies.

Prior to joining nvp capital, Skylar spent several years building products for both SMB and enterprise customers across future of work, benefits, and fintech while working at BetterUp, Justworks, and Level. For the last couple of years, she was a venture scout for Accel.  Originally from Palo Alto, California, Skylar graduated with a BS from Stanford University.

Vaughn Crowe, Managing Partner of nvp capital said, “Skylar’s background in early-stage startups and her interest in B2B software perfectly complement our vision and trajectory for nvp capital as a top-tier thematic, early-stage firm. Her West Coast roots bring a valuable perspective to our team as we strive to back the most promising and hardworking founders building next-gen software companies.”

Dorosin said, “After working on product teams at companies spanning various growth stages—from celebrating hitting $1 million ARR to preparing for an IPO—I am thrilled to get to invest in and work with incredible entrepreneurs building the next generation of B2B companies. The nvp capital team is thoughtful, smart, focused, and deeply committed to helping their portfolio succeed. I couldn’t be more excited to join a team investing in thematic areas that I care deeply about.”

In addition to adding Skylar to the team, nvp capital also recently promoted Sean Simons from Senior Associate to Principal. Simons started at the firm in 2019 as an assistant and worked his way through the ranks by helping source and diligence deals.  He has played a key role in the development and evolution of nvp capital’s investment thesis on industrial automation.  He is a regular author on the nvp capital blog, penning thought pieces on topics such as the supply chain and manufacturing stack and the opportunity within maritime or the “blue economy.”

Dan Borok, Managing Partner for nvp capital said, “We are excited to welcome Skylar to the nvp capital family.  Her operating background, fresh perspectives, and evident investment prowess are clear assets to our team. With Skylar onboard, nvp captial is prepared and ready to embark on an exciting new chapter.”

The nvp capital team’s growth comes as the firm continues to take advantage of the significant opportunity in B2B software investing.  nvp capital has developed robust investment themes around the future of healthcare, industrial automation, and the growth of b2b fintech.  nvp captial’s recent investments include Compyl, a governance, risk, and compliance platform, Vulcan Elements, founded by a Navy veteran to reshore the manufacturing of rare earth magnets, and Vitable Health, a vertically integrated primary and urgent care healthcare platform.
